Botox Removes Wrinkles & Fine Lines
But how long does Botox last? How quickly will you see the results? Does it hurt? Will it help remove fine lines and wrinkles? What is Botox? Is Botox Cosmetic? Is there downtime? What areas can I have treated? Can Botox look natural? What to look for in a Botox clinic? We answer all of these questions for you here, but first a little background.
Unfortunately with time, even with the most rigorous skin care routine and upkeep, wrinkles, crow’s feet and frown lines around the face will develop. Natural facial movements such as smiling, frowning, squinting and constant mouth movements that happen when you talk will stretch out the skin and cause facial wrinkles, crow’s feet, frown lines, fine lines and wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyes, around the eyes, around the mouth and even on the neck area, also known as turkey neck. When you wonder what areas can be treated with Beverly Hills Botox, think about those areas we just described! Those can ALL be treated with Botox to give a natural looking result!
BOTOX (botulinum toxin) injections can help prevent and reverse what happens over time, potentially ‘freezing’ the muscles in those stubborn areas where wrinkles & fine lines begin to form. The injections can help provide a more youthful appearance by reducing the frown lines, fine lines and wrinkles in the face. It can also help with excessive sweating in areas such as the hands, feet and/or armpits. Some may be worried about looking frozen, or a permanent raised eye brow? Dr. Newman prides himself on less is more, and a natural approach which means his staff is also trained that way. If you do your Botox treatment in our Beverly Hills Los Angeles office, your Botox will look natural! How Botox Works
What is Botox? Botox is a neuromodulator, a class of drug known for its wrinkle relaxing properties. When injected into the skin, it blocks messages sent from nerve cells to muscles. The primary message we are using it to block in this case is called acetylcholine, the chemical signal that nerves release to tell the muscles to contract. When the muscles in your face cease abnormal contraction, they loosen, and the end result is smoother skin with less wrinkles. How quickly will you see the results? It takes about 7-10 days to have the results fully set in, and at that point you can return to our office before two weeks for a follow up or to see if you need touch ups!
Botox Procedure Overview
Botox injections are a very simple procedure. They can typically be completed in a matter of minutes, meaning you don’t need to create any massive shifts in your schedule in order to accommodate your appointment.
During the procedure, a very small needle is used to inject a minuscule amount of the Botox neuromodulator into the muscle of the area to be treated. While there may be a brief pinching pain at the moment of injection, the procedure usually requires no anesthesia.
Once complete, the Botox will begin its work relaxing the muscles in your face, and within one to two weeks your skin will begin smoothing out and losing its wrinkles, crow’s feet, fine lines, and other undesirable signs of aging.
Preparing for Your Botox Injections Beverly Hills
You don’t need to do too much to prepare for your Botox injection. Avoid blood thinning drugs like aspirin and ibuprofen for one week prior to your appointment. It’s also important to let us know if you have recently been on any prescriptions medications, such as antibiotics or muscle relaxants.
Otherwise, you barely even need to free up your schedule because the Beverly Hills Botox treatment is incredibly quick and non-invasive. Take a long lunch and you’ll be back to work in no time.
Recovery After Your Botox Injection
Botox side effects vary. Reported side effects range from headache to flu-like symptoms. However, Botox typically has no recovery period. While you may have a small bump at the injection site for a few minutes, and some patients report mild bruising for a few days, Botox injections do not usually impact your daily routine.
It is important, however, to take measures to ensure that you do not relocate the injected Botox. For several hours after your appointment, you should remain upright and avoid rubbing your face. Following these precautions will ensure that the Botox stays in place and affects the appropriate areas.
Difference Between Botox and Dermal Fillers
There is often confusion among patients about the difference between Botox and dermal fillers. While both are injectable treatments for cosmetic procedures, they vary greatly in their uses and effects.
As has already been discussed, Botox is a therapeutic and cosmetic form of botulinum toxin, sometimes referred to as botulinum toxin type a. Botulinum toxin effectively freezes muscles by preventing them from contracting. This prevents and reverses wrinkling, and Botox is typically used for anti-aging treatment of the face. This is vastly different from plastic surgery. With plastic surgery, it is generally invasive, Botox is non surgical.
Dermal fillers, on the other hand, are usually created from hyaluronic acid. They serve to fill in places where tissue is deflated, thin or lacking. While the most well-known use of dermal fillers is in lip augmentation, they are also used for scar revision and procedures to add volume to cheeks or other areas of the skin.
Just as a painter sometimes uses multiple brushes on the same canvas to achieve different effects, you may benefit from both Botox and dermal fillers. Depending on your desired final appearance, Dr. Newman will determine if a combination of treatments will help you achieve the look of your dreams. Reconsider plastic surgery and get Botox in Beverly Hills Los Angeles today!
