Regenerative Treatment

Lichen Sclerosus.

A Different Approach

Lichen Sclerosus is a chronic inflammatory condition that can profoundly affect comfort, intimacy and quality of life. Dr. Nathan Newman has treated patients with Lichen Sclerosus using a regenerative approach designed to support damaged tissue and address the changes associated with chronic inflammation.

Understanding the Condition

Chronic inflammation can change more than the skin.

Lichen Sclerosus is a chronic inflammatory condition affecting the skin and mucous membranes, most commonly involving the genital and perianal areas. The condition can range from mild or initially asymptomatic to significantly uncomfortable and progressively disruptive.

Over time, chronic inflammation may contribute to changes in circulation, elasticity, tissue sensitivity and scarring. Patients can experience symptoms including itching, burning, pain, fissures, irritation and discomfort with intercourse.

Signs + Symptoms

The experience can look different for every patient.

Symptoms may develop gradually. Early changes can be subtle, while progressive inflammation may eventually affect the appearance, sensitivity and resilience of the tissue.

01 Itching + Burning

Persistent irritation, itching or burning can occur in affected areas.

02 Fragile Tissue

The skin may become thinner, more delicate and susceptible to tearing or fissures.

03 Pain + Sensitivity

Some patients experience pain with intercourse, urination, bowel movements or everyday friction.

04 Visible Changes

White patches, changes in pigmentation, bruising and progressive scarring can develop over time.

Evaluation

Excluding other conditions.

Because several conditions can produce similar symptoms, appropriate medical evaluation is important. Testing may be recommended to distinguish Lichen Sclerosus from other possible causes of irritation, inflammation or skin changes.

  • Lichen planus
A condition that may also cause itching and burning of genital skin.
  • Low estrogen
Hormonal changes can contribute to dryness, thinning tissue and painful intercourse.
  • Vitiligo
An autoimmune skin condition that can produce white skin patches.
  • Pemphigoid
A rare blistering skin disorder that can affect vulvar tissue.
  • Hemorrhoids
A possible source of irritation around the anal area.
Treatment Context

Managing inflammation is only part of the conversation.

Conventional management of Lichen Sclerosus commonly includes anti-inflammatory medications such as topical corticosteroids. Depending on the individual patient, these treatments may help control symptoms and inflammation and remain an important part of medical management.

Dr. Newman's regenerative approach focuses on the quality and condition of the affected tissue itself, with the goal of supporting repair, circulation, elasticity and tissue health. Treatment recommendations depend on each patient's symptoms, examination and medical history.

Lichen Sclerosus requires individualized medical evaluation. Regenerative treatment is not a substitute for appropriate diagnosis, monitoring or other medically indicated care.
The Procedure

Using your own regenerative cells to support tissue repair.

Dr. Newman's approach uses regenerative cells obtained from the patient's own adipose tissue. These cells are prepared and delivered to affected areas as part of an individualized treatment designed to support the tissue's regenerative environment.

The treatment is intended to support processes associated with tissue repair, including circulation, collagen structure and elasticity. Some patients may require more than one treatment depending on the severity of their condition and their individual response.

Regenerative Approach

Designed around the tissue itself.

01

Autologous

The regenerative material used in treatment is derived from the patient's own tissue.

02

Tissue Focused

Treatment is directed toward areas affected by chronic inflammation and tissue change.

03

Regenerative

The approach is intended to support the biological processes involved in tissue repair.

04

Individualized

The number and nature of treatments depend on the patient's presentation and clinical needs.

Patient Experiences

In their own words.

★★★★★
“Dr. Newman and his staff absolutely have the best interest of their patients at heart. I've seen them 3 times now for stem cell treatment of LS. Each time has built upon the last to help improve this condition. I can honestly say I've never felt more taken care of, and taken seriously, than I have at this clinic. They follow up each time to make sure I'm doing ok, and answer every question I have. I just adore them! Highly recommend!”

I didn't expect a full cure, I only hoped he could help minimizing the disease. The entire staff is highly experienced and so professional. They treat you like you are their one and only patient. The one visit with Dr. Newman's office changed my life!”

“I found Dr. Newman through an online support group for people with Lichen Sclerosus. I read many testimonies as to how great Dr. Newman and his staff are and was intrigued so I called and talked to the patient coordinator who made me feel completely at ease and set up an appointment. Every single person I dealt with at his office, including Dr. Newman himself, were the kindest, most caring and compassionate health care professionals I have ever dealt with. I highly highly recommend Dr. Newman and his staff! I am so thankful that I found them!”
